New Tanker 15

November 2010
Work starts on building our new tanker. Tanker 15 will be built by 4 Guys of Meyersdale, Pa on a 2011 Kenworth T-800 Chassis. The following pictures show the chassis waiting for the pump to be installed.

November
In a different area of the factory, the tank arrives and  a layer of insulation is applied before the whole tank is wrapped with stainless steel.  Wiring and the installation of some lights take place also.

December and January-The process of building the body begins next.
Stainless steel is cut, bent , welded and assembled to form the body for the tanker. After fabrication, members of the department traveled to the plant to inspect the tanker before it went into the paint booth.  After our inspection trip, the committee also stopped by to see the flight 93 memorial which was nearby.

January and February
After our inspection trip, the tanker was sent to the prep and paint area.  Now it looks like one of our trucks. Work begins on wiring, lighting, pump panel and the final assembly process. The truck really begins to take shape. Before it is ready for pickup, the tanker must go thru a series of tests, a wash and a wax to make it shine.

March 1st - It's time to pick up the new Tanker 15
Members left early in the moring for the trip to Meyersdale. The excitement builds as we enter the factory. After looking over the new truck, members got to pump & train on the new tanker. After some photos we began the trip home. Below are the final pictures, courtesy of 4 Guys
